Call For Student Leadership BEYA Award Nominations

2019 BEYA STEM Conference
Washington, DC
February 7-9, 2019

Nomination Deadline: Friday, December 21, 2018

Career Communications Group (CCG) launched the Student Leadership BEYA Awards in 2011 recognizing the need to begin to recognize students for their achievements while they are still in the academic environment. The purpose is two-fold. Firstly, deserving students gain valuable recognition that is recognized by many of the organizations where they seek employment. Secondly, student award recipients are challenged to contemplate and articulate their successes. The result is a powerful near-peer role model experience for the community of students who attend the award dinner specifically, and the conference generally.

We invite you to nominate your deserving students for one of these awards, which promises to be a rewarding experience for your students and your institution. Whether your student receives an award or not, he or she will receive a certificate of nomination indicating superior level of academic performance.

Here are the award categories and the criteria for each. To ensure that your candidates stand out, be sure to include all the required information and as many of the optional supporting documents.

Thank you for nominating your student(s) for a Student Leadership Award. The awards for the Women of Color (WOC) STEM Conference will be given at the October conference. The awards for the BEYA STEM Conference will be given at the February conference.

Whether your candidate is awarded or not, you should plan to send your students to both the WOC STEM Conference & BEYA STEM Conference, for several reasons. Among them are, the Women of Color STEM Conference in particular, is one of the first recruitment events of the academic year where students can lock in their internships or jobs early; access career advice professionals who will help them to solidify and reinforce the choice of a STEM major; and lastly, they will gain in-depth soft-skills training that will set them apart and place them at the front of the line for job and internship interviews when they are ready.

Again, thank you and we look forward to working with you for the upcoming conference.

Sincerely,

Rayondon Kennedy
Student Leadership Award Coordinator
