Expression of Interest

Are you passionate about advancing public health education and research? The Council of Academic Public Health Institutions (CAPHIA) is looking for dedicated academics from our member institutions to join our Professional Development Committee. This new Committee has been formed to drive the Advocacy pillar of the CAPHIA Strategic Plan 2025 - 2027. The Committee is co-chaired by CAPHIA Board members Prof Lisa Hall and A/Prof Christina Severinsen. We are now calling for diverse members for the inaugural committee for a period of 2 years.

About the Advocacy and Engagement Committee:

Purpose:
Influencing academic public health policy, enhancing CAPHIA’s visibility, and strengthening relationships with government bodies, public health organisations, and the broader community.

Key Responsibilities:

Advocacy Strategy: Develop and implement CAPHIA’s advocacy strategies to influence academic public health policy at local, national, and international levels.
Policy Development: Draft and contribute to position statements and submissions to government consultations on issues relevant to academic public health.
CAPHIA Awards: Determine and assess the annual CAPHIA Awards to recognise and reward excellence and innovation in contemporary academic public health.
Communication: Promote CAPHIA’s advocacy initiatives through internal and external channels, including social media, newsletters, and public forums.
Member Engagement: Encourage and support members of CAPHIA’s community to participate actively in advocacy activities and initiatives.

Eligibility: Staff members from CAPHIA institutions are welcome to apply. The CAPHIA Board will select members, ensuring diversity and expertise.

Commitment: Meetings every six weeks, with a tenure until March 2027.
