Expression of Interest
Are you passionate about advancing public health education and research? The Council of Academic Public Health Institutions (CAPHIA) is looking for dedicated academics from our member institutions to join our Professional Development Committee. This new Committee has been formed to drive the Professional Development pillar of the CAPHIA Strategic Plan 2025 - 2027. The Committee is co-chaired by CAPHIA Board members A/Prof Julie Saunders and A/Prof Kath Francis. We are now calling for diverse members for the inaugural committee for a period of 2 years.
About the Professional Development Committee:
Purpose: Lead the way in building the capabilities of public health academics by identifying needs, developing programs, and delivering impactful initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Needs Assessment: Identify professional development needs and priorities of public health academics from member institutions.
Program Development: Prepare an annual program of work, develop business cases for new initiatives, and deliver Board-approved events (both in-person and online). Provide advice to inform the work of other CAPHIA committees.
Network Leadership: Provide oversight of the CAPHIA Networks and Early Career Academic Committee to guide and support professional development activities.
Communications: Promote committee initiatives through internal institution channels, social media, and other academic and public health networks to encourage participation in CAPHIA professional development initiatives.
Member Engagement: Recruit and support academics and staff from member institutions to participate in the committee's projects.
