Introduction

The Lumber Heritage Region (LHR) and Cameron County are interested in gathering ideas about how best to enhance the County’s reclaimed landfill property off May Hollow Road for use as a Dark Sky Park.

The ideas and suggestions will be incorporated into a master site plan for the property.

The master site plan is envisioned to include:
· trail development
· parking
· visitor use accommodations
· supportive infrastructure for educational activities
· trail development connecting into the adjacent Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) properties

For over a decade there have been talks of revitalizing the location. Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has granted permission for the limited development of the reclaimed landfill property with minor stipulations.

This project is financed in part by a grant from the Community Conservation Partnerships Program and the Heritage Areas Program under the administration of the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Recreation and Conservation.
