Dear CALTCM Colleagues...

Cultural competence is a fundamental and essential component of all patient care. While ethnic, gender and socioeconomic factors have traditionally received research focus, other topics including intimacy, sexuality, lifestyle and sexual preference must also be considered, yet are often overlooked. This is particularly true for issues relevant to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) elders, rendering them essentially invisible in the long term care (LTC) setting.

As part of a continuing research effort, a brief survey has been created addressing issues pertinent to the care of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) elders in LTC. As there is little empirical data to guide providers and other LTC stakeholders, your input would be very helpful and greatly appreciated.

Participation is voluntary and anonymous, all responses will remain confidential, and completion of the survey should take less than five minutes.

My sincere thanks in advance for your time and assistance.

Best regards,
