PROPOSED TE PŪKENGA PROGRAMME
NZ CERTIFICATE IN INFRASTRUCTURE WORKS (LEVEL 3) 60 CREDITS
We seek feedback on the proposed Level 3 NZ Certificate in Infrastructure Works programme. Please complete this survey and let us know your thoughts on the programme.
This programme aims to provide the infrastructure industry with people with the knowledge and skills that can be applied across a range of standard infrastructure worksite operations. Graduates of this qualification will be able to:
1. Apply health and safety procedures during work operations on infrastructure worksites.
2. Follow work processes and procedures and comply with environmental and quality outcomes to complete infrastructure work operations.
3. Complete infrastructure work operations to job specifications.
The programme structure has been developed to meet the needs of learners working in an infrastructure works team across any of the following contexts: Civil works; Bitumen surfacing; Pipeline Construction and Maintenance; Forestry Earthworks; and Piling. These teams and worksites all have different skill sets, which Level 3 graduates will be able to apply (under supervision).
The proposed structure contains 30 credits of compulsory and 30 credits of elective learning.
The compulsory learning covers GPO 1 and 2 (above). The compulsory courses are completed regardless of the industry the learner works in or wishes to find employment in. The delivery and assessment of the compulsory courses will be contextualised.
The learner selects 30 credits from a ‘bucket’ of electives to complete their programme. The electives should best reflect their current work site or desired job.
All learning will be as practical as possible and use naturally occurring workplace evidence for assessment.
