An Examination of Ohio Kindergarten Diagnostic Assessments for The Presence of Phonological and Phonemic Awareness Items

The purpose of this survey is to gather data for a dissertation research project to evaluate kindergarten diagnostic reading assessments for the presence of phonological and phonemic awareness. This study also aims to illustrate the current alignment between kindergarten assessments and research about the importance of phonological awareness as a foundational reading skill. The research will further examine how data from the reading assessments is used in the classroom setting.
