Washington Covenant Homeownership Act Study Survey |
The National Fair Housing Alliance, Abt Associates, Northwest Fair Housing Alliance and the Fair Housing Center of Washington are completing a study as a requirement of a law passed in Spring 2023 that creates a program to address the role of government institutions in housing related racial discrimination in Washington. (see: https://wshfc.org/covenant/index.htm for more details)
As part of this study, we are seeking information about the historical extent of housing discrimination in purchasing homes or accessing credit, as well as the lasting impacts of housing discrimination in Washington today. We are collecting this information to document discriminatory practices in the state and inform possible housing programs to address unmet credit and homeownership needs.
We know that many people, their parents, grandparents, relatives, friends, neighbors, or others experienced housing discrimination that may not have been reported or otherwise documented. We want to hear your stories.
This survey aims to capture:
- Major barriers to buying a home for marginalized groups
- Stories about people who lost their homes because of discrimination anything from foreclosure practices or homes in neighborhoods of color being taken away to make way for new roads, schools, or other projects.
*Please note that we are only seeking information about housing discrimination within the State of Washington.
