National Biochar Survey
On behalf of American Farmland Trust and our partners, we are grateful for your willingness to complete our National Biochar Survey. This research is part of our Breaking Down Barriers to Biochar Adoption on Farms Coast-to-Coast, funded by the Natural Resources Conservation Service On-Farm Trials Conservation Innovation Grants national program (NR233A750011G029). Your participation in this anonymous national survey is critical in evaluating the soil, economic and social impacts of biochar application on cropland. Responses to this survey will help us provide guidance on how best to incentivize and support biochar application on farmland in the U.S by understanding motivations, successes, challenges and persistence.
The survey includes up to 35 questions about your farm and biochar experience (more questions for those that have applied biochar before), plus optional demographic questions. Some questions are required while others are optional. We do not ask for any identifying information to participate in this survey. However, you may choose to provide your contact information to enter a drawing to win a $100 gift card as a thank you for your participation! In this case your contact information will not be connected to your survey responses. Data will be stored in a highly restricted, secured file in AFT’s system. We will be reporting aggregated, anonymous results of this survey with the public to aid in our collective understanding of biochar use. This survey is voluntary, and we do not anticipate any risks from participating in this survey.
The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. Answers will only be shared with the Evaluation Team at American Farmland Trust, Dr. Gabrielle Roesch-McNally and Ellen Yeatman. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to Ellen at eyeatman@farmland.org. We thank you in advance for taking the time to respond to this survey.
