Bill Nye Avenue (West) Corridor Study

Bill Nye Avenue is envisioned to be the major east-west Minor Arterial corridor connecting the City’s southern gateway with its eastern gateway.  Bill Nye Avenue is a Minor Arterial street identified on the adopted Major Street and Highway Plan and shown in Laramie Comprehensive Plan.  Recent development of the corridor to the west and development pressure in the area have identified a need to re-evaluate the plan to determine if the existing alignment is adequate or if an alternative would be more suitable.

The City of Laramie  has contracted AVI, a Cheyenne engineering and planning firm to study the Bill Nye Avenue Corridor and analyze alternative routes of the corridor.  The corridor planning project includes Bill Nye Avenue from 15th Street to 3rd Street.

The primary purpose of the project is to create a comprehensive and practical planning document that guides and promotes future development of the corridor and surrounding area.  The goal of the project is to develop a realistic preferred alignment for Bill Nye Avenue between 3rd Street and 15th Street that fulfills the following objectives:

• Promotes safety
• Minimizes long term maintenance
• Sensitive to current function and property owners
• Serves all transportation users (bicycles, pedestrians, freight, passenger cars, buses, etc.)
• Facilitates inner City connectivity
• Encourages economic development.

Your input is important as we develop the plan for the future improvements of this roadway.
