Waste Reducing Behaviors I use scrap paper whenever possible I carry a reusable water bottle to fill up at filling stations rather than buying bottled water I have a set of utensils that I keep in my bag to avoid using single-use plastic utensils I use hand towels rather than paper towels in my residence hall's bathroom I use a hand dryer rather than using paper towels whenever possible Rather than throwing away old clothes or durable goods, I donate them I compost my food waste I repurpose items whenever possible (i.e. use old Keurig cups as plant propagation stations) Question Title * 7. Purchasing Behaviors I purchase fruits and vegetables that are in-season I buy food/goods locally whenever possible I take a reusable shopping bag when I go to the grocery store When shopping for new clothes, furniture, or other goods, I see what is available in my local thrift shops before buying new items I buy cleaning and laundry products that are eco-friendly I eat vegan/vegetarian meals most of the time I purchase rechargeable batteries rather than single-use batteries Question Title * 8. Energy Saving Behaviors I plug my electronics into a power strip and turn it off when not in use. I wash my laundry in cold water. (Note: This is sometimes listed as "Brights" or "Delicates" on the washing machine.) I use natural light in my room whenever possible. I use energy-efficient LED light bulbs. I have changed the setting on my electronic devices to where they are more energy-efficient. I report maintenance issues in a timely manner. I do not charge my electronics beyond 100% (i.e. charging your cell phone or laptop overnight). I turn off the lights when leaving my room. I keep my window blinds closed when I am not in the room to keep the heat out of my room. Question Title * 10. Water Saving Behaviors My showers are roughly 5 minutes long or less. I wash only full loads of laundry. I turn off the shower when applying shampoo/soap. I turn off the faucet when brushing my teeth or lathering my hand with soap.
