Welcome to the Sebastian Student Excellence Scholarship Program!

Overview
This scholarship program provides the following three scholarships based on a student’s performance in each of four basic categories. Scholarships may be used at any accredited 2 or 4-year college or university.
  • Sebastian Outstanding Student Scholarship (2) - $1,500
    • Criteria in four categories:
      • Demonstrate a commitment to scholastic excellence (GPA and class load)
      • Extracurricular activities (athletics, music, student government, etc.)
      • Community service (community groups, church, etc.)
      • Leadership skills, good citizenship, and perseverance.
  • Sebastian Community Service Award (1) - $500
    • Must demonstrate a commitment to the community of Kerman through participation in community-oriented organizations.
    Selection Procedure
    • Scholarship packet review
    • Interview by panel
      • A panel including Sebastian family representatives, a Sebastian employee, the KUHS Senior Learning Director and a community representative, will make the selections using your scholarship folder and an interview of the finalists.
    Awards Information
    • The minimum grade point average to submit an application is 3.0. This grade point average shall be cumulative of all classes taken in the 9th, 10th, and 11th grades and the first semester of the senior year. Any extraneous course work (such as night classes, junior college work, summer school) shall be included in the cumulative grade point average. The scholarship panel shall weigh class load and course difficulty.
    • The criteria for each award are listed above in the Overview section.
    • The scholarship selection committee shall be composed of six (6) members.
    • The student’s extra curricular activities and community service will be considered as a demonstration of leadership, commitment and perseverance.
    • Enrollment in college is required to receive the award.

    Supporting Documents

    At the end of this application you will be required to upload the following:
    • Recommendation Form (use provided form)
      • This letter should describe your character and achievements in each scholarship category.
    • College & Career Goals Essay
      • An essay on your goals for college and career.
    • Autobiography
      • An autobiography highlighting your distinguishing qualities and including three accomplishments of which you are the most proud and explain why you are pleased. Also give three examples of your extracurricular activities and describe what you have learned from them.
    • Transcript
      • A High School transcript through the first semester of your senior year.
    • College Admittance Letter
