THE ROLE OF SELF-ESTEEM AND PARENTING STYLES IN HISPANIC CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS WITH ADHD

Thank you for inquiring about this research on children and adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17 years old who are in grades 6th thru 12th and are diagnosed or suspected of having ADHD.  If you are a parent or legal guardian and 18 years old or older and agree to participate in this survey, you will sign a consent form and you will also sign a consent form requesting permission to collect data from your child or adolescent.  By signing this form, you and your child/adolescent acknowledge participating in this study. The parent or legal guardian will be required to complete one main survey: The Parenting Style Questionnaire (Robinson et al, 1995) (30 questions).  Your child or adolescent will also complete a survey, consisting of 10 questions called the Rosenburg Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965).  In addition, you will be asked to complete a short demographic survey (7 questions) on yourself and your child or adolescent.   

The entire survey should take approximately 15 minutes of your time.  Your participation in this study will contribute to understanding the role self-esteem plays in the relationship between parenting styles and Hispanic children and adolescents with ADHD.
