From June 29 –July 2, 2023, and September 17 – September 18, 2023, there were record-setting floods in Cook County, inciting a presidential major disaster declaration.
- DR 4728 Illinois was declared on August 13, 2023,
- DR 4749 Illinois was declared on November 20, 2023.
Hundreds of families were impacted financially, emotionally, and physically, with many being displaced or losing their belongings. Almost a year later, residents continue to have water damage and possible mold in their basements and other areas of their homes but have not had the resources to recover.
