Relationship between Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and Immune Disorders (AD) |
1. Do you or your loved one with BPD suffer from an Immune Disorder?
For the past 20 years, TARA has operated a national helpline, collecting data from people with BPD and their families. It has come to our attention that many Helpline callers who have BPD or member of their family also suffers with one or more immune disorders. The immune disorders frequently mentioned include: Fibromyalgia, Lupus, Lyme's Disease, and/or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The presence of the Immune Disorder may complicate or worsen the symptoms of BPD. An Immune Disorders prevents your body from adequately fighting infections and diseases and also makes it easier to catch viruses and bacterial infections.
TARA interacts with leading BPD researchers and is a liaison between them and people with BPD and their families. Our observations of pain sensitivity in BPD has lead to studies demonstrating irregularities in how people with BPD process pain.

To motivate researchers to study the relationship between immune disorders and BPD, we must demonstrate that the relationship actually exists. By taking this survey you will be providing researchers with the information needed to begin studying this relationship, hopefully helping us to develop improved treatment for both BPD and Immune Disorders
