Thank you for your interest in presenting at CANP's 47th Annual Educational Conference, taking place Thursday, March 20 - Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa

Applications must be fully completed and submitted by Wednesday, September 4, 2024, to be eligible for selection.

Tips for Success

Many abstracts are submitted to CANP for the Annual Educational Conference each year. The following suggestions may improve your chances of being selected for a presentation at the Annual Conference:

Title:

To the extent the data permits, make the title dynamic and conclusive, rather than descriptive.

Structure:

A good abstract will have these identifiable sections: background, purposes, methods, results, and conclusions.

Abbreviations: Use abbreviations only after they are spelled out or defined.

Proofread your work: Be sure to proofread your work carefully. If accepted your abstract will be printed as submitted.

Common mistakes:

Failure to state the purpose. It is advisable to formally state: "The purpose of this trial, study, program is..."

Failure to state a conclusion. Use a final sentence that reads: "In conclusion,..."

Excess use of abbreviations. All but the most standard abbreviations should be defined and abstracts should have < 3 abbreviations

Things to avoid:

Typographical errors.

References cited in the abstract.

The use of individual's names other than when stating the author and/or co-author.

Not providing content/statement(s) of relevance that states the rationale for your study.

Leaving abstract writing until the 11th hour - increases stress and leads to mistakes.

How to avoid rejection:

Make sure your abstract is clear, concise, and follows all the rules. Show your abstract to a colleague before submission and modify it accordingly.
