Methamphetamine Use in the Perioperative Setting

After participating in this session, participants will be able to:
  1. Describe the growing scope of the problem of methamphetamine use.
  2. Recognize the physiologic effects of methamphetamine use in the acute and chronic phases.
  3. Describe how to safely manage patients with acute methamphetamine intoxication and those with chronic use in the perioperative setting.
  4. Use an approach to mitigate methamphetamine psychosis in the perioperative period.
