The Macular Society is working with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth) to help inform and design the age-related macular degeneration (AMD) audit pages on the National Ophthalmology Database (NOD) website. Thank you for agreeing to take part in a short survey, this has two sections and should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.

The UK AMD audit provides information on how treatment for wet AMD is provided across the UK and what happens to vision. Data is captured in electronic records when you attend clinics for review and treatment. Certain items of data are captured well but other items, such as car parking and getting appointment letters on time, are not. The second annual report of the audit was published in March 2024 and featured in a Macular and Me webinar in May 2024. Data is available for all the eyes starting treatment in a given year as part of NHS-funded care and for each of the treatment centres that are taking part in the audit.

RCOphth plans to add data for each participating centre to the pages on the NOD website that are accessible to everyone. This will help patients, hospital staff and commissioners identify when local performance is of a high standard and when improvements may be necessary. The aim is to reduce the variation in how AMD treatment is provided and to improve outcomes for everyone.

To ensure that the NOD website provides data that is important to patients and others, we want to get the views of people receiving wet AMD treatment. Your help is needed to identify what you feel are the most important measures that will identify the “good” practice.

All data and information collected and published for this survey will be completely anonymous. If you have any questions please contact Sarah Clinton at the Macular Society at sarah.clinton@macularsociety.org or telephone 01264 560 207
