About the Iluka Resources Wimmera Project
Iluka Resources proposes to develop the project, comprising an open pit mine, processing plant, tailings storage facility and ancillary infrastructure to extract mineral sands from the WIM100 deposit and process them onsite to produce refined zircon, titanium dioxide and rare earth concentrate products. The zircon and titanium dioxide products will be packaged and transported via road, rail and/or ship to customers, while the rare earth concentrate will be transported via road, rail and/or ship to Iluka's proposed rare earths refinery at Eneabba in Western Australia.
The project area encompasses approximately 3,100 hectares and is located north of the Toolondo Reservoir, 35 kilometres south-west of Horsham in western Victoria.
Iluka estimates that the Wimmera Critical Minerals Project will provide approximately 300 jobs during construction and 280 jobs during operations, including contractors. A portion of the workforce will be from the local region.
