Breastfeeding Friendly Wakefield |
Thank you for enquiring about the Wakefield Breastfeeding Friendly Places Scheme
What is the breastfeeding friendly scheme?
The breastfeeding friendly scheme is a register of breastfeeding-friendly venues that is publicised to new parents via social media and our website www.familiesandbabies.org.uk.
Why do we need the scheme?
Many parents say they feel worried about breastfeeding when out and about public breastfeeding. We reached out on social media to see how we can better support parents to feel more comfortable. The most common suggestion was publicising that a venue is breastfeeding friendly with mums reporting that knowing that a venue welcomes breastfeeding mothers, makes them feel more confident with breastfeeding in public.
Why should everyone welcome breastfeeding?
Training staff to be welcoming and helpful to breastfeeding mothers encourages them to be more helpful and considerate to all customers. This will boost customer satisfaction and loyalty which is great for your business.
It can attract a new customer/client base
When new mothers find a place that welcomes them to feed their babies, they pass on the good news and customer numbers grow as a result. Their visits are often not at the busiest time of the day. This means more custom during quiet times for your business.
There is NO cost to you
There is no financial cost to join the scheme. All that we ask is that you display the free sticker/poster clearly in the window and policy in the staff area, along with a friendly and accepting attitude being upheld by staff.
It can improve your image and get you free publicity
By becoming breastfeeding-welcome you are making a positive contribution to helping babies get the best start in life.
We can offer staff training and tips on being breastfeeding friendly.
