A Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan is one which identifies, inventories and constructs a plan to reduce major sources of GHG emissions in the community which the plan covers.
An Energy Management and/or Energy Efficiency Plan is one which identifies, inventories and suggests the best opportunities to reduce energy usage through equipment and infrastructure improvement, monitoring or replacement. A Local Government Energy Audit (LGEA) is one of those plans conducted through the Board of Public Utility's New Jersey Clean Energy Program.
A Renewable Energy Plan lays out the potential for the use various types of renewable energy on facilities owned or controlled by the entity writing or sponsoring the plan; the types of renewable energy can include solar photovoltaic, wind, ground source, geothermal, hydropower and more.
Sustainability Plans can address many areas of government operation including energy use, energy procurement, emissions reductions, vehicle fleet and charging equipment purchasing, ecosystem conservation and other organizational operational issues. Often, the plan needs to identify and balance the effects of actions on the region’s economy, equity, quality of life and environment. Sustainability Plans often contain some or all of the work that might be contained in other separate plans including housing plans, renewable energy plans, transportation and mobility plans, and so on.
Vehicle Fleet Plans and/or Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Infrastructure Plans aim to guide the management of vehicle acquisition and disposal; drivers; fuel consumption and/or charging windows; maintenance schedules and systems, various environmental, safety and other laws and more.
