We are excited to have you join us for an evening of dialogue, networking and inspiration on Saturday, March 5 at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts.
Our panel, Amplifying the Voices on the Ground, will begin at in the Jorgensen Gallery at 5pm. Our goal for this forum is to center issues for communities that are traditionally marginalized; to make visible barriers to progress and engagement, and to identify strategies empower and engage the electorate.
The panel will be facilitated by Evelyn M. Simien, Ph.D., Associate Professor, UConn Department of Political Science and Institute for Africana Studies and author of Historic Firsts: How Symbolic Empowerment Changes U.S. Politics (Oxford University Press 2015).
Our panelists include Mui Mui Hin-McCormick, Executive Director, Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission; Glenn Cassis, Executive Director, African-American Affairs Commission, and Carolyn Treiss, Executive Director, Permanent Commission on the Status of Women.
A networking reception for the panelists and participants will immediately follow until 7:30pm.
