Project Title: What are the protective and risk factors impacting burnout among academic advisors?
Participant Informed Consent
Purpose of the Study: The purpose of this study is to determine the protective and risk factors for burnout among academic advisors within institutions of higher education in northeastern Oklahoma. Research question: What are the protective and risk factors impacting burnout among academic advisors? Procedures to be Followed: Upon agreement to participate in this study, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire covering demographic information and perceived factors that may impact burnout as well as the Maslach Burnout Inventory. This will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Risks: Some of the questions presented in the survey may result in negative feelings and/or attitudes. It is not required that you respond to each question on the survey, and you reserve the right to withdraw from participation in this study at any time. There are no consequences for refusal to participate in or withdrawal from the study. Benefits: It is anticipated that this study will assist the researchers/educators in determining specifically which factors are most effective in decreasing burnout and increasing job satisfaction among academic advisors. Duration: It will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete the questionnaire covering demographic information and perceived factors that may impact burnout as well as the Maslach Burnout Inventory. Statement of Confidentiality: Information collected in this study will be treated as strictly confidential. Your name will not appear on any of the surveys or in any of the published materials. All research data will be stored in a secure, locked filing cabinet. The data will be kept for a period of five years. Voluntary Participation and Right to Withdraw: Participation in this study is completely voluntary. You do not have to participate. You may refuse to answer any question you do not wish to answer.
