APLS Data Collector Survey
Thank you for your interest in becoming a data collector for the development of the Auditory Perception of Language Scale (APLS). Your professional contribution will play a key role in the establishment of this new measure.
The APLS will measure auditory discrimination (for example, hearing the difference between “cat” and “cap”), and memory to discern where a person has difficulties. This test is in part an update of the Carrow Auditory-Visual Abilities Test (CAVAT) which was published in the early 1980s – this update includes many new features and restructured organization. Speech language pathologists can use the APLS with individuals 3 years 0 months through the lifespan of adulthood. This wide age range allows for tracking auditory processing skills across the lifespan to identify auditory perception difficulties during early development as well as in aging adults, particularly those with Auditory Processing Disorder and Receptive/Expressive Language Disorders.
We are seeking data collectors who have access to typically developing individuals as well as those diagnosed with a variety of clinical disorders. As such, data collectors will be responsible for recruiting child and adult participants to complete the assessment which will be completed online. We are currently recruiting participants ages 3-7 and 80+.
To determine your eligibility for becoming a data collector, please answer the following questions, and we will contact you to discuss the details of the study. If you have any questions and/or concerns, feel free to contact the APLS Project Coordinator, at apls@wpspublish.com.
Thank you!
