Join an APGA Committee

APGA invites its members to join our committees!

APGA’s most important work is performed through committees, subcommittees and task forces comprised of volunteer APGA members, and APGA encourages any interested member to join our committees!

Serving on a committee provides APGA members the opportunity to help plan and oversee APGA’s work on government relations, marketing, operations & safety, and other industry issues, as well as advance their professional development by diving deep into industry topics and expand their professional network. Committees meet via conference calls and in-person at the Quarterly Board & Committee Meetings, and will receive emails from APGA staff on relevant issues and events.

Codes & Standards Committee: To advocate for safe and competitive codes and standards for the natural gas utility industry; and, to provide members timely notice of opportunities to consider and affect revisions to said codes and standards that may impact the competitive position of natural gas and end-use appliances.

Communications & Marketing Committee: This group oversees outgoing and internal communication for the association. Responsibilities for the committee include content creation for APGA’s magazine THE SOURCE and other member communication products, collaboration for marketing tools and best practices, management of key association messaging, development and execution of strategy for media and public relations, and overall member engagement on timely communications-related issues for APGA members.

Direct Use Committee: APGA’s Direct Use Committee was established to identify threats and opportunities for natural gas direct-use and develop strategies to respond to the threats while communicating the benefits that direct-use provides.

Gas Supply Committee: To encourage the exchange of information about natural gas markets among public gas systems, suppliers, pipelines, joint purchasing groups, and other local distribution systems.

Legislative Committee: To direct and develop APGA legislative activities while monitoring and managing efforts that further the interests of public gas systems before Congress.

Operations & Safety Committee: To enhance the safety and reliability of public gas system operations by providing information and services to APGA members and other stakeholders on the regulatory requirements and best practices for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of natural gas systems.

Regulatory Committee: To develop APGA's regulatory positions based on the policies reflected in the Association resolutions and on member needs and viewpoints; to communicate and advocate these positions in the relevant regulatory forums.

Environmental Subcommittee: To serve as the technical lead on environmental advocacy and communications efforts, focused on working to decrease distribution sector emissions and share and promote industry environmental related efforts within APGA membership and their system.

Security Task Subcommittee: To assist in raising awareness and developing best practices around cybersecurity and physical security for public gas systems to ensure the reliable delivery of natural gas to its customers.

Damage Prevention Subcommittee: To advance the Board-identified pipeline safety priorities by identifying damage prevention best practices and developing tools to aid APGA members in implementing those best practices.
