For nearly 10 years, Alliance for Girls (AFG) has been building a powerful professional development program to uplift, train, and connect individuals and organizations who are transforming the lives of girls. Facilitating trainings provides a unique opportunity for you and your organization to amplify your work, build your network, and help strengthen our individual and collective capacities to serve girls.
We invite proposals for trainings that can be adapted to one of the following formats:
- Live Workshop Series: Live workshop series provide meaningful opportunities for facilitators and participants to connect and learn in real-time. A workshop series typically consists of 3 sessions that occur every 2 weeks, totaling 4 instructional hours. Workshop series should be highly interactive. Currently, workshop series are hosted virtually over Zoom.
- On-Demand Video Training: On-demand video trainings are hosted on the AFG Learning Hub, the first on-demand production of video trainings for girls’ organizations of its kind. Each video course consists of 3-4 modules. Each module has a 5-7 minute video along with a few assignments. Each course has its own Social Learning forum to encourage learners to connect and discuss the content. On-demand courses have the benefit of reaching learners year-round. Filming of courses will occur in March. AFG will provide facilitators with a videographer. Course assignments/materials are due the first week of April.
Trainings should highlight effective practices that promote radical safety for girls (see pages 14-21) in any of the following ways:
- Interpersonal Radical Safety: How are you centering tenets of radical safety for youth such as sovereignty, comfort, representation, trust, and non-judgement?
- Radical Safety within Organizational Structures: How do you build authentic connections between youth and caring adults and peers? How do you increase community support for youth?
- Community of Practice and Cultural Shifts: What are your best practices for shifting gender norms? For giving girls decision-making power? Or for building intergenerational leadership?
- Advocating and Implementing Policy: How are you addressing gender-based violence prevention on a policy level? How are you influencing budgets to support organizations’ practices of safety? How are you making data by and for girls accessible?
Stipends & Logistics
All selected facilitators/organizations receive support from AFG in coordinating logistics and outreach throughout the planning process and during trainings. Facilitators of workshop series receive a stipend of $2,000. Facilitators of on-demand training courses receive a stipend of $4,000.
