Focus Group Expression of Interest / Registration Form
What is the Active Warrnambool Strategy?
The strategy known as Active Warrnambool will replace the Warrnambool Recreation Plan 2007-17. It will inform Council's planning and provision of sport, recreation and physical activity for the next ten years.
What is the status of the project? Recruitment is now underway to identify participants for the second stage of consultation. There are a range of issues and opportunities that the project needs to address that will be considered under three themes with feedback and direction sought through focus groups. The focus group themes, outlined below, were also informed by the findings already received during the first stage of consultation as part of the W2040 Community Plan - where over 1,200 surveys and 8,000 comments were received.
Focus Group Themes
- Providing facilities for formal (ie sports grounds and indoor stadiums) and informal (ie walking/cycling trails and playgrounds) sport and recreation
- Creating a more physically active Warrnambool (with particular focus on the one third of community who are not physically active)
- Supporting the sustainability of sporting clubs
The focus groups will each comprise up to 40 people that are a mix of selected and self-nominated participants that are involved or have interest in sport, recreation and physical activity. Approximately two thirds of the participants will be members of clubs and organisations, reference groups and local agencies, and one third will be filled by interested persons who express an interest in the process via this application.
The recruitment process aims to establish a focus group that reflects a diversity of participants including a balance of demographics and interests in organised and unorganised sport and recreation pursuits. If applications exceed the number of places available, and where several people meet the above characteristics, the required number of people will be randomly selected.
