Consent to Participate
This study is being conducted by Dana Statton, a Research and Instruction Librarian at Murray State University, to explore librarians’ perceptions and use of the ACRL (Association of College and Research Libraries) Visual Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education (http://www.ala.org/acrl/standards/visualliteracy) in their instruction and/or research. If you are a librarian who does instruction (operationally defined for this survey as teaching workshops, teaching one-shot instruction sessions, teaching credit-bearing information literacy courses, creating research guides and/or creating online tutorials) or conducts research (operationally defined as presentations or publications based on perspective/commentary, theoretical approaches, or empirical studies), please consider taking this survey. The results of the study are anticipated to be presented at professional conferences or included as part of a journal article.
The survey should take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Your participation is strictly voluntary. However, your assistance in completing this survey would be greatly appreciated.
You must be at least 18 years old to participate in the survey and your submission of this survey indicates your consent to participate in this study. Please be assured that your responses will be anonymous. There is no payment or direct benefit for your participation. In addition, if you experience any discomfort you are free to discontinue participation at any time during the survey. There are no negative consequences if you decide to discontinue participation.
