The Arkansas Bilingual Interpreter Credential in Education (ABICE) is a professional credential training program for bilingual adults who serve as interpreters in educational settings for meetings with families of children from birth through 12th grade in Arkansas.
TRAINING DATES: This course is scheduled to be held virtually through Google Classroom and Zoom. A live Zoom orientation will be held January 24th from 9:00 - 10:30 (Central Time) when the Google Classroom will also be opened. Four Mandatory Zoom sessions will be held from 8:00 - noon on January 30, 31 and February 6 and 7, 2025. Participants will be able to practice multiple interpreting scenarios. Training on interpreting virtually will also be covered.

Location: Virtual - Google Classroom and Zoom
COST: $325/participant for Arkansas residents and $825 for out-of-state participants. (Arkansas educational interpreters' registration fees are being supplemented through grant/contract funds.) Payment may be made by credit card or purchase order/check. The registration fee includes the entire credential training course (40 hours), the prerequisite bilingual oral language fluency assessment; and all course materials.
Language Proficiency Assessment: You must show language proficiency through a prerequisite oral language fluency assessment in English and your target language to attend the course. You will be contacted to schedule the fluency assessment after your application is accepted and payment is received. If you already have a medical or court interpretation credential, please include that documentation with your application as this may be accepted in lieu of your fluency assessment.
Application Registration: Submit the application by the deadline. You must complete the entire application and hit "Done" at the end to submit the application. Applications submitted without contact information cannot be considered as we will have no way to contact you. Priority is given to interpreters who provide services for early childhood education.
