AB 80 (Aguiar-Curry): Carpet Recycling: Product Stewardship strengthens California’s existing carpet recycling program by ensuring greater accountability, enforcement, and investment in recycling infrastructure. This bill refines the state’s carpet stewardship program by reinforcing producer responsibility and enhancing compliance measures to improve recycling outcomes.
AB 80 builds upon California’s leadership in extended producer responsibility (EPR) by ensuring that carpet manufacturers contribute to the proper collection, recycling, and diversion of their products. Strengthening oversight and penalties for noncompliance will drive meaningful action in reducing carpet waste and increasing circular economy solutions.
By signing up here and supporting the bill, you will be added to the coalition letter submitted to the legislature. Tell your elected officials at the local, state, and federal levels that you support a proactive solution to California’s carpet waste challenge, one that prioritizes producer responsibility and environmental sustainability.
