AAVSB Volunteer Interest Form

Thank you for your interest in serving the AAVSB. Volunteers are vital to the success of our programs. Not all committees have immediate openings, but the AAVSB will consider your participation as openings arise and contact you with more information at that time. Committee members are appointed by the President with approval by the AAVSB Board of Directors. For specific details on each Committee, please see the AAVSB Volunteer Opportunities book available at www.aavsb.org/board-services/get-involved/.

Bylaws Committee: Proposes amendments to the AAVSB Bylaws as necessary. Receives and considers proposed amendments as well as submitted Resolutions. Meets via video conference call as needed. 2 hours a month average.

Student Outreach Committee: Engages veterinary and veterinary technician students through visit to schools with Member Boards. Finds tactics to get regulatory information to students. Meets via video conference call when needed. 2 hours a month average.

PAVE for Veterinarians Committee: Oversees the PAVE program and participates in exam development of the Qualifying Science Exam (QSE). Meets in-person two times per year and via video conference call as needed. 5 hours a month average.

PAVE for Veterinary Technicians Committee: Oversees the development and implementation of the PAVE for Veterinary Technicians program Meets via video conference call and in-person as needed. 2 hours a month average.

RACE Committee: Oversees the continuing education review program and participates in the refinement and enhancement of the RACE Standards documents. Meets via video conference call monthly and in-person as needed. 5 hours a month average.

VTNE Committee: Participates in the construction, development, and security of the VTNE. Meets in-person two times per year and via conference call as needed. 5 hours a month average.

Exam Development: Participates in examination development workshops for the Veterinary Technician National Exam or the Qualifying Science Exam. Workshops are held virtually or in-person. Creates examination questions using online software.

Conference Committee: Assists with AAVSB Annual Conference planning (location, attendee extras, etc). Meets via video conference call throughout the year and assists onsite at the Annual Meeting. 1.5 hours a month average.

Finance Committee: Advises the AAVSB Board of Directors on issues related to the use of the Association's assets to assure prudence and integrity, recommends financial policies, discusses quarterly financial statements, and participates in the annual budget process. Meets in-person twice per year and via video conference call quarterly. 5 hours a month average.

Leadership Development Task Force: Identifies and recruits individuals for possible AAVSB leadership positions, provides recommendations to the President for Committee appointments, and considers to the volunteer management process by examining the life of an AAVSB volunteer. 1.5 hours a month average.

Nominating Committee: Reviews the Call for Nominations documents, receives nominations from Member Boards, discusses the qualifications and eligibility of the nominees, and develops slate of candidates. 1 hour a month average.

Regulatory Policy Task Force: This hands-on group considers current veterinary regulatory issues for possible creation of model regulations or guidance documents. Consistently reviews the AAVSB's Practice Act Model for updates and edits. 5 hours a month average.

Ad hoc Committees/Task Forces: Ad-hoc committees may be established and appointed by the President as needed with approval from the Board of Directors.
