An invitation and warm welcome is extended to you for our upcoming hui, Forestry in the Emissions Trading Scheme, in August-September 2021. Our hui are hosted by Te Uru Rākau - New Zealand Forest Service.

Our theme is Te tū ake o Tāne Whakapiripiri - the standing up of Tāne, who gathers together a solution that understands Māori as Treaty partners and tangata whenua.

Hui kaupapa

Recent legislation and regulation changes to the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) will change the administration of the ETS. We will be implementing a new system next year.

We have contacted you because we believe:
  • you are a landowner, lease holder or holder of forestry rights with an interest in forestry in the ETS
  • you have some other interest in the ETS for forestry.
 
It is important for us to understand your interests and how they might be impacted by our changes. In particular we want to improve how we address changes and impacts in relation to those advised interests.

In this initial engagement we want to:
  • make a connection - face-to-face or online
  • gather information about your interests and any impacts on them
  • listen to and receive your feedback, and communicate what actions we can take
  • build an ongoing relationship
 
We also want to make you aware of other related services from the Ministry for Primary Industries and how those services may help you to make decisions related to the ETS for forestry.
