Request for Clearance Advocacy Actions - SB 60 |
Bonn, Germany | 3 - 13 June 2024
- UNFCCC meetings operate on the principles openness, transparency and inclusiveness, to create an enabling environment for the participation of a diversity of voices and interests. While advocacy actions are generally not allowed elsewhere on United Nations premises, the secretariat and UNDSS support on-site actions that have received prior permission.
- Only admitted observer organizations are eligible to organize additional activities at UNFCCC sessions. Even if the advocacy action is on behalf of a constituency, please nominate one admitted organization that will be responsible for the action.
- Advocacy actions must be linked to climate change.
- Requests should be submitted latest before 10:00 am the day prior to the action for the consideration by the Secretariat.
- Actions that take place in the conference venue without any confirmation of approval by UNFCCC are considered unauthorized and thus in breach of the Code of Conduct for UNFCCC Events.
- Such actions will be immediately reported to security and asked to disband.
- The UNFCCC secretariat will take appropriate measures to address such breaches as soon as possible.
- Such breaches may lead to a temporary suspension of the involved Participants from the Conference; serious breaches may lead to de-badging.
- To ensure safe and effective participation of all participants in the process, applicant organizations for clearance of advocacy action are expected to adhere to the guidelines as set out here.
By submitting an application to organize an advocacy action at SB 60, as the applicant organization, your organization consents to the following:
- Approved advocacy actions will adhere to the Code of Conduct, available here.
- Approved advocacy actions will only begin after speaking with the UNFCCC secretariat at your designated location.
