ASTCT 2023 International Trainee Observership Application |
ASTCT has created an international trainee scholarship for physicians from lower middle income and low income countries that provides a four-week long observership at a designated institution in the United States in order to foster relationships and strengthen international applications of blood and marrow transplantation and related cellular therapies.
The observership will take place at the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City from January 16 through February 13, 2023, where the Scholar will observe patient care and engage in discussion with top physicians in the field, but not provide any direct patient care. Through this opportunity, the Scholar will be able to observe a diverse array of rotations and optimize knowledge sharing, which will aide in creating bridges between programs. The areas of observation may include diagnosis of disorders; pre-transplant assessments and conditioning regimens; donor selection; stem cell collection and manipulation in patents; outpatient post-transplant monitoring; as well as development of clinical research in BMT and cellular therapy.
All of the Scholar’s costs, including lodging, board, return flight, visa, health insurance, and COVID testing will be covered by the scholarship and arranged through ASTCT’s central office.
The prospective applicant will be a citizen of and practice in a country that is considered lower middle income or lower income by the World Bank. The applicant must be a trainee or junior faculty to be considered.
The applicant need to provide the following during the application process:
