At Excel@Uni (https://excelatuni.com)- We build solutions to help reduce the 50% student dropout rate at tertiary institutions, and our mentorship programme forms a core part of helping students graduate as high-attractive employment candidates.

 

Our mentoring is highly structured, allowing you to have the effective tools you need to monitor the impact of your guidance on the students you’d mentor monthly. As a mentor;

• You'll have a briefing meeting with the mentor manager once a month (if necessary)
• You’ll be meeting 1-3 mentees once a month.
• Meetings will be via video call (or in-person if preferred).
• A meeting is usually about 1hr
• During each mentorship session, you’ll fill out and submit a mentorship form to report what was discussed during the session.

Being a mentor is an opportunity for you to guide a student through their academic career, pursuing work-readiness skills development, and sharing the overall experience that you've had. We also think it’s a rare opportunity for mentors to learn how to manage 1-3 students, allowing you to transition into management roles with better experience of the performance management part of the role.

While we look at the role as an honorary one that can help you improve your management skills, we do provide mentors with a monthly stipend to make sure your participation doesn’t cost you more than your attention & time.
