1. Introduction

In UK student accommodation, Black students have a poorer experience than their peers, leading to lower wellbeing and sense of belonging. The Living Black Commission works across the UK to support universities and their partners to address these inequities.

On behalf of the Commission, I would like to invite you to complete this survey which will take 10-15 minutes of your time. Your responses will contribute to the national effort to create evidence-informed improvements in the experience for Black students across the UK.

We are interested in the views of staff at different levels of seniority and in different job families, and we encourage you to share the survey with team members and colleagues.
I would like to encourage you to share your honest opinions without restraint, and for that reason we have made the survey anonymous. However if you would like to follow up with the team directly, please contact us at: lburesearch@unitestudents.com

Thank you in advance for your time in completing this survey.

Carol Thomas, Chair of the Living Black Commission

The data you provide cannot be linked back to your email or IP address, and the Living Black secretariat and Commissioners will make every effort not to share any linked data that could inadvertently identify you personally. We hope you will feel confident to answer the questions, however we understand that you may have valid reasons not to share these details so none of the questions in this section are compulsory.
