Thousands Could Lose Medicaid Health Coverage Due to Work Reporting Requirements |
The Ohio Department of Medicaid recently announced its plan to change the eligibility requirements for adults between the ages of 18 and 55, who became eligible for Medicaid due to the expansion in 2014. These Ohioans have had access to life saving health coverage for the past 10 years. Now, in order to keep their health coverage, they will need to submit proof to Medicaid that they are either:
1. “working at least 80 hours per month”
2. “currently in school or job training part time”
3. “participating in drug or alcohol treatment
4. Or exempt due to an “intensive medical need” or “serious mental illness”
Before any permanent changes can be made, The Ohio Department of Medicaid is required to ask your opinion about the changes. The deadline to submit comments/feedback to Medicaid is Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at 5:00pm.
If you complete your comments/feedback using the enclosed simple survey, UHCAN Ohio will deliver them to the Ohio Department of Medicaid prior to the deadline.
If you or someone you know is currently enrolled in Medicaid, we want to hear your concerns to make sure that all voices are heard. Help the Ohio Department of Medicaid understand how work requirements and or a loss of coverage would affect you or your family’s health.
