Welcome!

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT:

Thank you for your interest in sharing your time and talents with the YES community as a Volunteer, Leader, or Trip Leader!

As an organization that engages Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), and other marginalized groups in the Richmond Community, YES is committed to cultivating a loving and inclusive community free of anti-Black racism and colorism.

We welcome people committed to race and outdoor equity who are willing to envision and create a world where we uplift each other and see each other’s strengths. At YES, we celebrate the richness of our varied histories, contributions, and cultures. We ask that people entering the YES Community enter with love and kindness.

Many of us are on different paths on this journey to learn what we can do individually and collectively to advocate for a just world. We also recognize that racism is deeply ingrained in our society and shows up in our day-to-day lives. Therefore, we understand that there are times when - even with our best intentions- we may impact other people negatively. YES intends to create a space where, when this happens among Volunteers, Leaders, Trip Leaders, participants, and/or YES team members, all involved can come together to share feedback, take the necessary actions to take accountability, and learn from these experiences.

Volunteers, Leaders, Trip Leaders, YES team members, or participants who make or demonstrate anti-Black, racist, colorist, sexist, ageist, or any other derogatory statements or behaviors will be required to make sincere amends, which may result in ending their participation with YES. YES will not tolerate harmful behavior and actions or those who intentionally uphold racist values.

If this message aligns with your values and you are committed to doing this work internally and externally, we invite you to fill out this form to get started and join the YES community.
