Senior Illinoisans Hall of Fame
The Senior Illinoisans Hall of Fame honors the accomplishments of Illinois residents aged 65 and older. Anyone may nominate an older adult for consideration.
To be eligible for nomination to the Hall of Fame, nominees must be:
• At least 65 years old at the time of nomination; and • A current Illinois resident or a previous resident of Illinois for most of their life.
Posthumous nominees will be given equal consideration with living candidates. Nominations for the Hall of Fame are accepted year-round. To guarantee consideration for this year’s induction class, nominations must be postmarked, faxed, or electronically submitted no later than June 1.
Nominations submitted after June 1 will be considered for induction in the following year.
After June 1, Illinois Department on Aging staff will thoroughly review all nominations and identify no more than 44 finalists to be evaluated by a selection committee. The committee will select one individual in each of the four categories for induction into the Senior Illinoisans Hall of Fame.
Nominators of new Hall of Fame inductees are expected to participate in an award ceremony honoring their nominee and highlighting their accomplishments.
Please review the entire application before you begin.
At least one photo of the nominee must accompany your completed nomination form. You are welcome to include additional photos, newspaper articles, or letters of recommendation to support your nomination (no more than eight total attachments, please). If you have questions about the nomination or selection process, please call the Illinois Department on Aging’s Senior HelpLine at 1-800-252-8966 or 711 (TRS).
