Introduction

2024 is a general election year and the first general election in the UK since the new requirement to have photo ID was introduced. Like many other marginalised groups, Disabled people are more likely to face barriers to voting.

Legal protections are in place to ensure disabled people are not being excluded from taking part in democracy due to accessibility barriers. At Equal Lives, we want as many people as possible to be able to participate in democracy. We are conducting research into barriers to Disabled people voting and will use the data to advocate on your behalf. This means we will share your experiences, work collaboratively with other organisations to make positive changes and strive to disable barriers across society.
