This form is to register for this year's Carers Parliament. The Carers Parliament is an annual forum that brings together unpaid carers, carer support organisations, and decision makers to discuss carers experiences and the support carers need now and in the future.

This is a hybrid event meaning you can attend either in person or virtually. Please tick the relevant box. The event will be held on 27th November 2024 in COSLA Conference Centre which is in Edinburgh and very close to Haymarket Station with excellent tram and bus links.

The Minister for Social Care, Mental Wellbeing and Sport, Maree Todd MSP and the Health and Social Care Spokesperson for COSLA, Councillor Paul Kelly have confirmed their attendance.

If you are attending in person, we also offer expenses to carers for the costs of travel and where required, replacement care, accommodation (for those travelling further) and subsistence.

Whilst Government guidance has significantly changed for COVID19, we will continue to make facemasks and sanitising gel available and will cover the costs of lateral flow tests for those attending (if required).

Please note: the event will be photographed and filmed.

Travel, accommodation and replacement care:
Funding is available to support carers to attend.  This will include reasonable travel costs e.g. standard class public transport wherever possible (rail, bus, ferry). If this is not practical, we provide a set mileage rate should you need to drive. There is no parking at the venue itself but there is parking available nearby. For carers on the Islands, we will cover standard air fares.

If you are attending in person, please complete the next section to provide further details.
  • We will provide travel expenses for all carers/former carers who require this to attend. This is normally provided following the event but if the costs mean you need this in advance, please let us know in the section below and we will provide prompt reimbursement or may be able to arrange on your behalf.
  • We can provide replacement care to enable you to attend. If you require this, please let us know and we can, for example, arrange to pay your service provider directly.
  • Accommodation will be available for those carers who, for example, cannot travel to the event and back on the same day. This would include carers from remote and rural areas. Accommodation costs are based upon reasonably priced accommodation and will include breakfast and an evening meal up to a set amount.  If you require accommodation Carers Scotland will organise this on your behalf.
