Henrico Too Smart 2 Start Community Survey For Youth

Thank you for your interest in the Henrico Too Smart 2 Start Community Survey for Youth! 

This survey is administered by the non-profit Henrico Too Smart 2 Start substance use prevention coalition to inform prevention and intervention efforts at the county level. 

The overall goal of this survey is to understand patterns of substance use behaviors and associated factors among Henrico County youth aged 13 to 17 years old. 

In this survey, you will be asked two screening questions about the county you live in and your current age. If you are eligible, you will then be asked various questions about your demographic background, use of tobacco and other substances, perceptions of tobacco and other substance use, and exposure to violence in your community. This survey should take 15 minutes or less if you choose to complete it. Please note you can stop taking the survey at any time.

There is a risk of loss of confidentiality from participating in this survey. As we take many precautions to ensure the security of your data, we believe this risk to be low. 

We will NOT share your answers to our questions with teachers, parents, or friends. In addition, we will not share your responses individually. We may summarize this data in reports that are shared within the Henrico Too Smart 2 Start coalition and in public forums. All data collected is treated carefully to protect each participant’s identity and their individual answers.

Thinking about some of the questions asked may cause discomfort to some people. You do not have to answer any question that you do not want to, and you can stop the survey at any time.

If you are eligible and complete the survey, you will receive $10 via CashApp, Venmo, Zelle, or Paypal. If you are ineligible, you will not be able to complete the survey or receive payment. 

All participants will receive an electronic packet with substance use prevention and intervention information.
