Enrollment in HSA-eligible health plans has grown significantly since HSAs first became available in 2004; however, EBRI recently found the rate of growth has slowed. Please join us for a webinar featuring Paul Fronstin, EBRI Director of Health Research and Education, who will share findings from his recent EBRI Issue Brief, Enrollment in HSA-Eligible Health Plans: Slow and Steady Growth Continued Into 2018. Roy Ramthun, President and Founder, HSA Consulting Services, LLC a nationally-recognized expert on Health Savings Accounts and consumer-directed health care issues, will also be sharing his insights. Ramthum led the U.S. Treasury Department’s implementation of HSAs after they were enacted into law in 2003, and then served as President George W. Bush’s health care policy advisor at the White House, where he developed the President’s proposals to expand HSAs while overseeing the implementation of the Medicare prescription drug benefit (Part D).

This webinar will examine several factors that may have caused employers to hold off on plans to move to HSA-eligible health plans, including the delay in the Cadillac tax, recent small health insurance premium increases, and low unemployment. This webinar will also explore challenges that could be hindering the further growth of HSAs, including the need for increased flexibility in health plan design, and addresses whether changes to public policy may be needed to expand enrollment.
