Shelter is a charity that helps people who are facing housing issues.

We want to make sure everyone who needs Shelter’s support gets the same, great experience.

We know this doesn’t always happen, though. To help us understand why this might be, we have asked an equalities charity called brap to explore the experiences of People of Colour*.

As part of this project, brap are talking to a range of people: our staff; people who have used Shelter in the past; and people who could benefit from Shelter's help but perhaps don’t know about them.

This survey is one of the ways brap want to hear about your views and experiences. You can also take part in an interview if you would like. There is more information about how to do this at the end of the survey.

brap will use the responses to this survey to shape an action plan for Shelter that will respond to the issues you identify. The action plan will aim to make Shelter more responsive to the experiences of People of Colour.

If you would like to know more about brap, go to www.brap.org.uk.
If you would like to know more about Shelter, please go to https://england.shelter.org.uk/

All your responses will go straight to brap. They will not share any individual data with Shelter. (brap may relay some quotes back to Shelter, but they will anonymise the responses so it can’t be traced back to an individual.)

This survey will be closed to responses by 31 August.

* ‘People of Colour’ means people who do not identify as ‘White’. We know this term may not be perfect and we recognise there are a wide range of experiences between and within ethnic groups.
