The Battery Park City Authority would appreciate your input as we aim to mitigate the impacts caused by the temporary two-year closure of Robert F. Wagner Jr. Park. This closure of 3.5 acres of space is for the South Battery Park City Resiliency Project, a capital project designed to provide flood risk reduction to Battery Park City and Lower Manhattan caused by climate change.
The vast majority (over 90%) of Battery Park City's 36 acres of parks and public spaces will remain open as this construction work begins, from bustling playgrounds to quiet, plant-filled gardens. Even so, the Authority would like to identify ideas for the approximately 24,000-square foot hardscaped walkway, stretching from Battery Place to Third Place, that can be reprogrammed temporarily for enhanced play and public enjoyment.
This survey is designed to solicit data on how you or your organization use BPC's parks, and will be followed by ongoing discussions with various stakeholders in the weeks ahead. Thank you for your input!
