My name is Alcohol |
Did you know that…
Alcohol consumption is a significant risk factor for health and life. According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), alcohol consumption can have negative effects on the body. One of the main risks is associated with liver health.
* Long-term alcohol consumption can lead to cirrhosis of the liver, increasing the risk of liver cancer.
* Additionally, alcohol consumption can cause damage to the DNA of liver cells, contributing to an increased risk of liver cancer.
* 7 out of 100 cases of liver cancer (7%) in the United Kingdom are caused by alcohol consumption (Cancer Researchers, UK).
* Excessive alcohol consumption is linked to an elevated risk of developing various other diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, nervous system issues, and addictive behaviors.
It is not recommended to drink alcohol, especially if:
* You are under 21 years old.
* You are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
* You are driving, planning to drive, or engaging in activities that require coordination and alertness.
* You are taking certain prescription or over-the-counter medications that interact with alcohol (*there are many).
* You have medical conditions or health issues.
* You are recovering from alcoholism or struggle to control the amount you consume.
By adhering to the Dietary Guidelines, you can reduce the risk of harm to yourself or others.
The Cyprus Liver Association, the Organization of Friends and Relatives of Dependent Persons (OFSEA), and their Scientific Committee have prepared a small survey with
10 simple questions.

The research will contribute to a more thorough understanding of the issue by identifying ways and actions and forming recommendations that can be adopted to improve the existing situation, with the aim of enhancing our quality of life.
Please respond to all questions as accurately as possible. Some questions may require more than one answer.
