East Lothian Council's 2024/25 rent increase of 7% has helped us to both maintain the Housing Service and invest in existing tenants' homes. We are on target to maximise our modernisation budget and continue to invest in new housing to meet the needs of our growing population.

* 2. The Council is considering a rent increase of 7% in 2025/26. Based on the average rent, 7% equates to a rise of £5.75 per week. This proposed rent increase would allow us to continue to maintain services and target areas of investment such as windows and doors, damp and mould, roofing and render together with other major works. Please prioritise the services 1 to 5, with 1 being the most important to you and 5 the least important.
