This quantitative survey is part of a Master's thesis research in an effort to get empirical data on the use and views of Soft Power for the development of the Fusion industry from the Fusion Community.
Soft Power: a term coined by academic Joseph Nye, is used often in politics and international relations for its ability to enact change or impact behavior based on appeal and attraction; in contrast to hard power, which uses coercion and inducements (eg military attack, economic sanctions).
A selection of Soft Power instruments are divided into the following four categories:
· Political: scientific diplomacy, policy-making;
· Economic: private investment, tax incentives;
· Cultural: Education and the Arts;
· Communications: social media, events;

These sources can either attract or repel different parts of society in favor of the agenda set by nations, industries, companies and individuals.
