2024 KPUB Power Supply Portfolio Survey
1.
KPUB has historically purchased all of the power required to serve our customers on the wholesale power market.
We are now at a point where we can continue purchasing from other suppliers, or we can invest in owning a generation plant to supply part of our needs.
Although owning generation involves risks and a significant financial investment, we believe it will provide stable competitive rates for our customers over the long term.
What best describes how you think KPUB should proceed?
I prefer a path that ensures stable competitive rates, even if that means KPUB borrows funds to invest in owning a generation plant
I dislike the idea of borrowing funds and prefer that KPUB continues purchasing from other power suppliers, accepting that prices might rise if supplies become scarce
Other (I am undecided on this and need more information still)
