Rev. Dr. Jim Lamb and his childhood sweetheart, RoxAnne, have been married for 54 years. They have three adult children, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Armed with a B.A.in Biology, he served his country in the USAF as an ER paramedic before entering seminary. While earning his Doctor of Ministry, he served as senior pastor for 14 years at St. Paul, Garner, IA where he also served as Circuit Counselor, Zone LWML Counselor, board chair for a community/school youth program, spiritual advisor for the local Lutherans for Life chapter, member of the Sanctity of Life committee for the LCMS, and chaplain of the Garner Volunteer Fire Department. Jim was the Executive Director of National Lutherans for Life for 20 years before his attempt at retirement. He has spoken nationally and internationally about the God-given value of human life and is the author of numerous sermons, devotionals, brochures, articles, and essays connecting God’s Word of Life to life issues. He served as the Lutheran Family Service Life Advocate for the last 9 years before really retiring. While at LFS he was a registered lobbyist on life issues at the Iowa legislature.

Jim previously served on the Lutheran Family Service Board of Directors in the 80’s. He has referred many members for counseling services as well as using the services personally. "I have experienced the growth of the ministry and know it will continue because of visionary leadership. It would be a blessing to continue to be part of this growth as a board member."

Candidate Kay Kreklau, Trinity Lutheran Church, Drayton, North Dakota

Kay Kreklau and her late husband have three adult children and three grandchildren. She enjoys attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, especially baseball.

Kay has had a long career in banking and even served as a financial counselor to farmers. Even though she is now retired, she still works a few days a week for a local bank. Kay has been very active within LCMS organizations, currently serving as trustee for the LCMS Foundation and treasurer for the North Dakota District. She has held many roles with LWML, even serving as LWML President from 2011 to 2016.

Kay has had many conversations with LFS counselors and leadership and believes, through the work of the Holy Spirit, LFS is making a difference, one person at a time. She says “I would like to be a helper at LFS wherever God has need of me. I believe I can do that by serving on the Board. To God be the Glory!”

Candidate Kirk Warnke, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Pomeroy, Iowa

Kirk Warnke and his wife Delaine have been married for 40 years. They are the parents of three adult daughters, four grandchildren and four grandpets.

Kirk is recently retired, having served as Executive Director of Camp Okoboji for the last six years. Prior to that, he had a long career in the banking and finance industry. He has been active in his local church community as a Board of Directors Member, President, Elder, Finance Committee, Education Committee, Trustee, Sunday School Teacher, Usher, Camp Okoboji Delegate, and IDW District Convention Delegate.

He says “the possibility of serving on the Board of Directors at Lutheran Family Service would allow me to continue to participate in sharing the love of our Lord, Jesus, in a ministry of a different nature than Camp Okoboji. The potential would be in alignment with my belief in the value of partnership in ministry, seeking to identify growth opportunities through connecting with other ministries.”

Candidate Mark Niebuhr, St. John, Newhall, Iowa

Mark Niebuhr and his wife Diane have been married for 41 years. They have three adult daughters, two sons-in-law and three grandchildren. They have worked together throughout these years with managing the family land and owning and operating Hope’s Bridal Boutique. All three daughters are working with them in running Hope’s Bridal.

Mark has had several roles in the church throughout his adult life. He has been an elder for several terms, youth counselor, taking two youth groups to the National Youth Gathering, and a member of various committees. Mark chaired the capital campaign for a church addition to St. John and is currently the chairman of St. John Newhall.

Mark considers the work of LFS to be an essential part of the church’s ministry. He is just completing his first term on the Board of LFS.

Candidate Mary Ann Hanusa, St. Paul, Council Bluffs, Iowa

Mary Ann Hanusa and her husband, Charlie, are both retired from public service, serving in Iowa, Maryland and on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. She has been a life-long member at St. Paul, Council Bluffs and has served on the Board of Education and History Committees as well as VBS.

She spent her career in public service and worked as an educator and administrator in the Council Bluffs public schools, Congressional staff, at the White House as Director of Personal Presidential Correspondence, and State Representative in the Iowa House. For the past 8 years, she has worked at Children's Square, which is a multi-service non-profit for children with behavioral and mental health needs.

Mary Ann has worked with LFS on legislation to promote a culture of life. She says, "I look forward to supporting the outstanding work that is done every day by the LFS team." Mary Ann is just completing her first term on the Board for LFS.

Candidate Dr. Stan Ullerich, Timothy, Council Bluffs, Iowa

Dr. Stan Ullerich and his wife of 40 years, Nadine, have two adult sons. He was baptized at St John, Charter Oak, confirmed at St Paul, Ute, attended many LCMS congregations through the years and currently worships at Timothy, Council Bluffs as well as being the financial secretary.

He has long served on the Iowa District West Board of Directors in different capacities, in addition to being Chairman from 2015-2022. He has also served as a synodical delegate and an LCEF board member. Stan is a professor emeritus of economics at Buena Vista University, retiring in 2016.

“Having been saved to serve, I feel blessed to be asked to assist the LFS staff and clients however asked.” Stan is just completing his first term on the Board for LFS.
